Tender Circuits: Scores for Artificial Intimacies - Workshop @ Karlsruhe University
On October 22, 2025, Learning Machines Project PI, jessie beier, led a one-day workshop titled Tender Circuits: Scores for Artificial Intimacies at the Pädagogische Hochschule Karlsruhe as part of the Care Research Lab Fellowship. Bringing together graduate students from art and media education, the session explored how contemporary pedagogies are entangled with computation, care, and algorithmic mediation.
Participants worked hands-on with instructional art strategies—scores, prompts, and performative directions—to prototype alternative approaches to teaching and learning in the age of artificial intimacies. Together, they created and enacted a series of lo-fi instructional artworks, experimenting with misreadings, glitches, and unpredictable interpretations as ways to probe the limits of automation, control, and translation.
This workshop took place alongside beier’s lecture Artificial Intimacies: Figuring Care in the Age of AI, delivered on October 21 as part of the Intermedia Ringvorlesung.
